D&T
What started out as an almost accidental secondary market for us has now grown to accounts for more than 75% of sales of our vacuum press sytstems and there are now more than 250 schools throghout the UK with a Bagpress vacuum press. Our commitment to developing our range of materials and project packs has helped to establish vacuum pressing as a very important process in the D&T department.

Projects can range from simple salad servers and picture frames to complex pieces of full size furniture. Here are just a few examples of work produced by students using a Bagpress vacuum press. More pictures are available to view on our discussion group at groups.yahoo.com/group/bagpress

The process itself is very simple and safe, yet it can be used to create truely professional results. Indeed, the equipment that we sell to the education market is identical to that which we supply to the professional woodworking market and so is a perfect example of an industrial process that can be used in the classroom.

The use of moulds to create a repeatable shape or form also fits in very well with the D&T sylabus and encourages students to consider how their project might be put into small scale batch production. We have found that once a school has bought one of our systems it quickly becomes the most sought after piece of equipment in the department and in many cases never gets put away!

Bagpress exhibits at the Deisgn Technology show every year at the NEC and always welcome questions from and discussions with prospective and existing customers.

Bagpress runs a Free Veneer Scheme for the UK education market. This is a recycling project that we set up to redistribute offcuts of veneer from industrial veneering companies that would otherwise have gone into an incinerator or landfill site. These offcuts are often more than 700mm long and are usually still bundled in their original bundle order making bookmatching possible. We have large quantities of standard species but also
